Hey there, I’m Sam. I’m a writer, podcaster, and social media strategist based in Chicago.

I’m obsessed with vintage clothes, I talk too much, I’m chronically online, and I love to complain.

I’m a freelance writer.

With over 5 years of writing and editing experience, I’m well-versed in editorial work and eager to assist with any projects you have, from feature reporting and subject interviews to product reviews and branded content.

My specialty is in the beauty and wellness space, but I’m always looking for new opportunities to spread my wings. I love to write about all things beauty, books, fashion, feminism, pop culture, and politics.

I’m a social media strategist at The Evoke Agency.

From 9 to 5, you’ll find me at The Evoke Agency, a four-time Inc 500/Inc 5000 recipient with expertise in social media content development, influencer management, and public relations.

I’m a Senior Account Executive at The Evoke Agency and in this role, I help beauty and wellness brands determine their social strategy, connect with their target audience, and reach their business goals.

I’m a podcaster — catch me complaining on Pessimistic at Best if you dare.

From 5 to 9, you’ll likely find me grumbling on my podcast, Pessimistic at Best, self-dubbed a podcast for complainers, by complainers.

This podcast is meant to be both an outlet for my bad attitude, and a place where friends, family, and even perfect strangers can come to bitch about, well, anything really. So, to all of my fellow Pessimistic Pattys, let it be known that you’re welcome here!

A bit more about me:

I live with my partner James and our two cats Misho & Beatrix on the top floor of an adorable walk-up that we arguably pay way too much for, but we love it all the same.

I’m an only child and I’m obsessed with my parents. My dad is a recently retired database administrator (don’t worry, I don’t know what that means either) turned woodworking connoisseur, and my mom is a brilliant artist who works primarily in mixed media and acrylic paint. They’re both ridiculously talented and I credit them for my innate balance of all things technical and creative.

I love fashion, art, and interior design, and utilize all three as vehicles for my own self-expression. I’m morally opposed to intermural sports, I’m afraid of revolving doors, and I believe I’ve already met (and conquered) my archnemesis.
